Wellington - HPs out in force (31 December)

I was heading to the meet for the 'round the bay's' ride today. Unfortunately I was a little late but as I came down SH1 past J'Ville (about 11:30) there were 4 HP's already giving tickets, 2 sitting on the grass with the radars out, a bike sitting under the Newlands bridge and another HP sitting half way up the gorge. 2 others past going up the gorge as I got to the interchange at the bottom.
It looked like they were having a bit of an end of year, 'need to get the revenue up' party.

Finally caught up with the group at Island Bay after riding around the bays as 'Hawkeye no mates'. Sorry I didn't have time to join you in the Parrot but family commitments called. Maybe next time.
I'm only wearing black until they develop something darker

    OMG they killed Kenny!

Oh sorry no, he's just late...
They shall not grow old as we that are left grow old.
Age shall not weary them nor the years condemn.

    we will remember them

They were there on thursday or friday too (I forget which it was).

Heading north there was a bike just by the Jville exit, and 4 cars between the jville onramp and the one that goes to the tip. Was another one a few km up by tawa too.

Sounds like they are doing a regular thing over the holidays.

Yeah I saw em when down there that day. They were from Wellington STU (strategic traffic unit). HP have 'Highway Patrol' on the sides of their cars, when STU has the standard 'safer communities together'. HP are usually long timer traffic keen beans. STU are usually newbies, with the odd long timer thrown in to supervise (esp in Wellington). Basically useless information on a quiet night!

Yeah... I got breath tested at the roundabout at the Whitby end of the Paekok hill road last Friday night. The cop was busy chatting to his mate and not even looking where he shoved the breath tester. I could have said "Charles, Prince of Wales, Buck House, London SW12" for all the notice he took!
