Taupo virgin gets it in the rear!

    .......

I arrived mid morning, got set up, the rain showers came and went. It was looking good for our first practice with fine hot weather, then the sidecars had a hold up, it clouded over and pissed down. I didn't go out as I had new tyres on, so I made the change to intermediates. It got hot again and the track was dry for the 2nd practice, so I took it pretty easy, picked a gear, no brakes and just puttered around. After that I changed back to the dries, got them lightly scrubbed and ready for the first parctice race (Saturday afternoon). I qualified mid third row, got a goodish start and quietly got picked off by the other riders as I tried to get my head around the track. Finnished towards the back of the class with a few other guys.

Sunday was three laps of practice then into it. I got a good start then let damn near the entire feild past me. I got stuck in a group of other riders, #32, #132, and Morgan. Morgan was riding smooth, keeping his lines well covered. One of the others shot past both of us in the corners to the hairpin. It looked like morgan and the other rider might being going to get intimate as the guy making the pass spun it up on the white line and slid in front. They puckered up their asses and managed not to get too involved!.Morgan settled down and I followed him home.I was watching Brent Finlay gaining on me on the last lap . But I held him off.

I got my arse kicked to the back of the grid for the second race. I anticipated the start and got in the bunch for the first corner, all the guns shot off . On one of the laps I was turning in when I spotted a bike coming up my inside way hot, I stood my bike up and tried to give him abit more room but he was determined to get mehe gave me a good shunt and we swapped abit of paint. I held it together an trundled on.

The third race was another good start within the bunch, coming into the hairpin one of the front runners had gone down, Nick had run off the track and in the short chaos I was lucky enough to pick up a few places. On one of the laps Nick passed me like I was walking and I think I finnished behind morgan again.

For the invitation race it felt like I finally got my shit together.I got a good start with no dramas, I picked up a few places and I was back behind morgan and #132. When #132 didn't wan't to play anymore, he had a near highside and exited track right, last seen heading for the tyre wall! I found myself in some clear space for a change, I got a rhythm going and it felt realy good.

I have no idea of what the results were, hopefully somebody will post the on here. Must have been pitted on over from "Goblin", I saw Frosty on the track and on his bike on the track, I saw Motoracer pass me in every race except the last one (were you already in front?)cool stunts, I got in touch with kickingzebra, watched the 125's have some great racing, hope you all had a good day too.

    I loved it!

Yep. Well done for your first time there mate. I have done Taupo a few times so know the track a bit better.

Shit, I've been round that track a few times before. It'll be good racing with you when I know the bike better and you know the track better.

    Catch you next time.
