Having said that I am having to be sensible and go for a tyre which is grippy (for the odd track day) and will do some commuting duty miles. I called Cycletreads today

    Bridgestone BT014's - $450 a pair
    Dunlop D208 & D209RR - $530
    Metzeler M3 - $500
    Michelin Pilot Power - $399

I'm tempted by the M3's because I've heard good things and I've not tried them before (where as I have the others)... But those PPs are good for the price...

Sensei mentioned the key really... its a personal choice, as it depends how you ride. Simple example, I had dunlop sportmax's 208/218, whatever, stock tread for the 04 zx10. Hated the edgy as fuck feeling that you got if you weren't cruising or fanging it. Death says he loves that feeling.

So it really depends what sort of tyre YOU like. Personally, I'm hooked on the conti sportattacks, and use a 190/55 rear, for the best of both worlds. Raceattack is just too fooken soft

On my Blade I went with the new Corsa III dual compound, good wear even after 2 hard track days, was hard to get the rear to move around at all, managed 1:40-1:41 at Taupo with them.
Didn't like PP's,let go in the wet too much for me.
Corsa Pro's will only chew out on the road if ya ain't usin them at the track.

Tyres really are too much of a personal thing to take others advice....most of the respected brands will grip more than you really need on the road, so it really comes down to feel and handling. As gremlin says I love the dunlops, I love the way they squirm and move around at medium lean angles and love the predictability when they're on the edge. I know heaps of others who hate it.
Try everything you can, and then choose.
One last thing, the theory with the 180 rear (earlier in the thread) and quicker turning is BS.

Yup, what he said especially that last little bit, bout steering with the rear. narrower tyre = less tyre on the road, works for some - just not me.
    It is what it is
