Another Mud Fest

Well, we had so much fun on Wednesday that we've decided to do it again this Saturday.

This time (subject to public opinion) we'll be either repeating Thompsons Track (and going further if possible) or riding "The Wires", or if we get through one really quick then we'll do both.

The Wires track runs along Wires Road in Maratoto Valley, approx 20km from Paeroa (World Famous for L&P).

Either option is a good ride. They are regularly driven by 4WD's so the vegetation is knocked back. No scratched hands. But that also means the tracks are well carved up.

The Thompsons bogs were mostly less than knee deep (I managed not to stand in most of them, so this is an estimate based on the mud line on the side of my bike.)

To ensure maximum enjoyment for all participants, please only 4WD quads, 2WD quads ridden by experienced riders or suitable 1WD bikes.

I'll be taking basic recovery gear on my quad, including a hand winch in case we really stuff things up.

Planned start time is 9am at either location.

We've decided on Thompsons. If you want to join us, arrive at the entrance to the track, that's basically where the gravel road runs out and you can't drive a car any further.
Look for my white Terrano. We're aiming to be there at 9am and depart shortly after.
