As in dry ice? I've seen the machines advertised, but don't know who has one.
You are on one of the ever shifting XS650 sites,I keep losing it and don't know where it is now.I'm getting back into them again so might check back in.
Oh,and welcome home....

"Vapour Blasting"?
Whazzit do/for?
Ta Bonez, I was being lazy wasn't I by not googling it m'self. I was taken by the mention of crankcase cleaning. Nasty's Virago external crankcase has gone all shitty - looks like skin cancer.
I don't know if it used to have a clear coat on the outside or what but it would be cool to find something that would clean it up all shiny and nice
Hello Motu,
The most active board for the XS650 is probably the US site:
http://xs650temp.proboards29.com/
I understand there is a company located in Auckland
that specialises on Vapour Blasting for Motorcycle Engine Parts.
Anyone out there who knows the outfit?

I've used a guy in Drury/Ramarama, south of Auckland. He does a great job, and charges very reasonably.
Couldn't immediately find his details, then remembered he advertises on TradeMe: http://www.trademe.co.nz/services/ot...-460756866.htm
He does a lot of work where people mail items to him.
Funny I was looking just yesterday and found soda blasting and aqua blasting. Be interested how you get on.
Don't you look at my accountant.
He's the only one I've got.
There is a company less than half an hour from me that do vapour blasting, they were a bit vague on costs when I rang them but what did put me off a little was a video found afterward (by them) on You Tube.
It showed them in action and then one segment showed someone attacking the gasket surface of alloy V8 inlet manifold with a big wood chisel.
I ended up buying quite a few brass bristle (hand) wire brushes instead of risking some genius whittling on the Norton head.
I had a Triumph head done (sent to SA) and it does look good but not so sure it could be called a as original finish, has an odd silver sheen to it.
Some Caswell aluminium brightener arrived yesterday so am going to test that when I find a suitable guinea pig part
This crafty South African made his own.

These parts attached were done with a brass wire brush but the home made blast unit needs looking into.
