Rear disc on Honda Hornet 250

I have noticed very tiny cracks on my rear disc brake. I hardly ever use this brake but have been advised that it should be replaced because if it ends up shattering or something bad it will be my butt on the asphalt.

I got a quote for a non-Honda disc from Holeshot for $220, which should still fit OK. I thought this was quite a lot of money but apparently these things are expensive anyway? I guess it's biased to take advice from one person so I thought I could get some pro advice on here.

I would also like to fit it myself but there is risk that I might break something else in the process. Hmmmm....

If I were you.... I'd go to a bike wrecker. Yeah, that's more like it.
Make sure it's one who knows stuff. It's more'n likely that there's another disk from a different only similar Honda that will fit, as Mr Honda is pretty good for reusing bits as much as possible.
I had a similar (only different) problem with my VF500 having a knackered front disk. The first wrecker said summat like, "No, we don't have a VF500 disk and you'll never find anything to fit."
The wrecker around the corner went "Hhmmmmmmmmmmmm..... I think I might have summat what'll fit...."
Sure enough, an NS(R?)250 disk had Eggs Zachary the same bolt spacing and diameter and whatnot, except it was drilled full of holes, so I bought two disks (both right-hand ones, as all the left-hand ones was ferked) and fitted 'em both, putting the best of the front ones on the back.

How do I tell if he knows stuff? Otherwise great advice, i'll start looking around for wreckers right away.

While yer at it, make an inquiry about a used chain guard as well for me? I'm going to remould my back tyre hugger ... and while it's off, would like to ensure I can still ride without having a chainsaw near my foot!

What is this modification you talk of?

The mod is an aftermarket affair, which sacrifices itself to have the stones and other external road debris impact upon it sirrah! Basically just a mudguard for the rear wheel - my one has just about done it's dash with a big rip going up the side of it (poor design, but we have poor roads!)

I'm going to make a new one with new and improved features on it!
