Bloody awesome ride... and a special thanks to those that made it special (and safe) for my little man. He's never done more than 25kms in one go before...
And yesterday we bumped than up a wee bit (like 6x...!). Huge thanks to Mom and Maha for sharing their bike with him... he was shy but loved it. And thanks to KittyHawk for watching his back on the ride home too. It really is appreciated.
He loved the ride - loved the blue bike, thought the people were cool and the Helicopter taking off was a real highlight... till he got home. Everything was eclipsed by the fact he was on the TV (he swears he could see the KB badge on my shoulder and his three helicopter badges - '04, '05, and '07) on his jacket so ... it's us!). LOL... I don't think so but that bubble was too cute to burst.
So that's two more heads I can promise you will be on the ride next year.
I laughed on the way home - he's progressing through the normal pillion things...
First - sit too stiff and hang on for dear life.
Second - Relax and enjoy the ride
He's at stage three... starting to anticipate corners and lean into them LOL...
Brilliant.
Good to see so many out there too. A great cause, and good day. Was strange being told to hurry up on the MW though. ... 120kph wasn't satisfactory ... I reached back, clamped the little man to my back and tapped it open to 140.... and slowly caught up.
WTF?
And a special word to the organisers...![]()

So I reckon that so many people said the same thing to him.......
He was on the ride with us all........ so he now knows what the ride means to everyone and how much we support the Westpac Helicopter.
I think we have him on board.......
i enjoyed the old people at the end of the ride, out on the pavement using all their strength to give us a wave, very sweet of them to come out and support us.

What a fantastic experience. Thanks to the KB'rs whom I rode with from Albany via Silverdale and afterwards to Puhoi and back to Albany. I really enjoyed every minute of it. I cannot imagine how anyone could want to prevent a worthy and enjoyable event like this from continuing to occur every year. I will definitely be there next year.
