If you mean humidity, I could understand
I think he's meaning air density, i.e. whether at sea level or in the hills. It plays a big part in how a drag car performs.

Ahh, that makes a bit more sense
To every man upon this earth
    Death cometh sooner or late
And how can a man die better
    Than facing fearful odds
For the ashes of his fathers
And the temples of his Gods

Don't laugh (although it may have been a made up excuse) as I had an experience in the F100 where the floats were set too low.

Could cruise all day no problems, it accelerated normally on the street, it started o.k BUT when it was in 'full noise' for more the 8-10 seconds it died just like it had run out of fuel. (which in effect it HAD).
