I can't help but feel that public outrage would be higher if the kid was taken from the mother, not the other way around.

[sarcasm]Men are evil, so it's just as well he's not with the dad. [/sarcasm]

Let's just hope Grandad isn't responsible for Mum's mental health.

Pure speculation ... but I can see where you're coming from... and find it hard to disagree.

I've kept my mouth shut on this up until now.

I'm an ex-victim of the Family Court system and an ex who lied and lied and lied in order to get what she wanted. Many a time I wanted to take the kids and tell her to fuck off. But thanks to the support of members on this site (they know who they are) I didn't. And now my ex and I are trying to heal the relationship after all this, and it ain't easy.

It doesn't surprise me to hear comments like those from Crashe. I faced many of them myself. But the thing is, the family court system is very skewed towards the maternal parent. If the father was awarded custody he would have had to prove there was a problem with Jayden being in danger.

The chances of a father getting custody in this country are not good.

Dick Headley has committed a crime. And if Cindy Kiro and her like manage to overturn this country's family court law then they will set a precedent the likes of which this country have never seen. See how many kids are kidnapped then.

I for one am fucking sick of people immediately assuming there's something wrong with the father.
And I to my motorcycle parked like the soul of the junkyard. Restored, a bicycle fleshed with power, and tore off. Up Highway 106 continually drunk on the wind in my mouth. Wringing the handlebar for speed, wild to be wreckage forever.

You know this for sure?....or is it just your opinion?
If anything like this happened to either of my two girls i would be more proactive in finding them, offering up money to the 'many people' you speak of seems a no brainer really, instead of tugging at the heart strings of NZer's by looking sad on tv.....just my opinion

His mother knows where Jayden is. So does his grandfather, Dick. So does the woman who spirited him away from Hamilton library. Other members of the Headley family will know too. And there will be people in Northland (where the Police believe Jayden is being held hostage) who also know the location of the crime scene. Northland is too small a place for this not to be the case.

If something like this happened to one of my kids I would do whatever it took to get them back...whether I could afford it or not!
The family court is definitely skewed towards the mother in NZ, it seems to me, judging by comments made on here, that many members of the public are too.
A child's safety, emotional well being, right to stability, education etc etc is at risk here.. this boy is only 6. His rights have been violated!
People know where he is, no matter there thoughts on the rights and wrongs of the situation, they need to start talking!

Theres no way i agree with what is happening Hitcher, just seems a little too one sided for me. Yes a crime has been committed, and the criminal is serving time. I stand by my feelings on the matter........

This issue has been on my mind for a while, so for what it is worth here goes my input,

There is a little boy somewhere in NZ being cared for by someone that loves him, and by virtue of that love is denying him the love of his extended family, school, friends. I know that may be conjecture in parts but i can hardly see Jayden being allowed to play outdoors with his mates.

This little fella has a Grandfather who is facing criminal charges, a mother in prison and a father who rightly or wrongly (remember the court has made this decision, and we dont know the facts, and are unlikely to) has been granted custody and is desperate to get his son home.

I have read the opinions here (all valid and with merit) but this poor little boy should be living "normally" not hidden away. Whether he is being "brainwashed" by his Grandfather or even, heaven help him once he gets home, being given a whole new set of truths by his father, the most important thing is to get this lad back where he can be monitored.

In my experience ( I fostered children for many years) I have never seen a case of smoke without fire, one side of the family desperate to keep the boy away from his father, and a court system giving him custody, there is obviously a hell of a lot more to this story than we will probably ever know, lets just hope that common sense prevails soonest, that or the $20K being offered does the trick.

    Sorry for the long post

rest of post snipped out for expediency - I'd simply be quoting it all bit by bit and saying the same thing.

She sure is and willingly too. There must have been some serious trouble with the boy's father for her to do that. Like the parole board, the court is not always right.
