    Fairing fasteners...

Like some of you know.. I am restoring my ZX-10 and I will be doing most of the work on it,myself.

I am just about done with the plastic welding.(Thanks to those that helped me with advice on that.)

I want to put all the fairing parts back together so I can drill the needed holes where the fasteners need to go throw.

    My Question......

Where can I get the bracket type thingies that you use to fasten your fairing to the bike? (What are they called?)

Also, what is the recommended price for them?

I need about 14 of them. I found a place that sold them but they are around $4 each.(That's a lot of money for something that you can't even see when done.)

    I have added a picture...
    Thanks to all of you.

    Thanks for that...

I found the name for it. It's called "Clip-on Panel Nut".

    Is there a local supplier?

    Sounds right to me...

Do you know where I can get some at a good price? Or is $4 the normal price?

I can always make my own,but it's a shit load of fabrication to do and then they are still not protected from rust.

Have seen them somewhere... perhaps Blacks Fasteners? Have a look around, someone found a source of Dzus fasteners.

That's a good point. I can't see my crankshaft either; do you think I should be able to get one of them for under $4?

    LOL... Good one!!!

Sure I can make you a new crankshaft.... It's just going to take some effort to make it's value worth $4!!!

try super cheap auto, I've seen them on the rotating racks. Bit expensive from them though

The other place that I'm fairly certain I could get them from in Auckland at least is EDL Fasteners.

I found a New Zealand online shop that sells something that's almost what I want...
    www.basisnz.co.nz

I will give it a try and see if it works.

If you can be bothered spending the time - go to pick-a-part car wreckers and start pulling off door inner panels and similar trim. You'll find them in there
it's not a bad thing till you throw a KLR into the mix.
those cheap ass bitches can do anything with ductape.

fuck really? I had issues trying to replace those stupid rubber captured nuts that last maybe 6 months on my Honda with Dzus fasteners, and my bike lives in the lounge!
