A bit about me and the bike I almost have (rider 07)

    Hi all,
lets see.....where do i start..... I'm a 15 year old Napier boy's high school pupil and over the last year or so I've dreamed of having a motorcycle. in that time i have finally convinced my parents that i need a bike because of the freedom and ease of transportation it would give me. I was originally going to get a scooter but the decision was made that in the long term a motorcycle would be better. I am currently looking for Suzuki FXR 150's in (or around) Hawkes bay. My uncle is being a great help and has found me one in Palmerston North that he has kindly offered to transport to me but we are still inquiring about the bike.

Any thoughts on this type of bike are welcomed.

Nice to meet you, what is your name?

Excellent choice of motorcycle, the FXR will happily see you through until you have your full license.

I'm not much of a brand whore (cough, cough) however Suzuki have made the FXR a genuinely good learner bike, almost as a replacement for the legendary GN 250. The only better bike would have to be a Hyosung, there is a reason why every Hyosung owner is somewhat crazy about their bike. A bit like Honda riders. Then there are Suzuki riders who seem more focused on who has the biggest penis/balls and how their bike brand represents this. Suzuki is Japanese for "Insecure" me thinks

    Anyway.

FXR150 ... awsesome learner bike .. recently sold mine after gaining my full ... but my luver and I spent a year riding the FXR while learning and both really enjoyed ... reasonable power ... do some googles on it though ... we found the speed was 10% out which happens with lotsa bike ... 55 to do 50 and 110 to do 100 .. but it is different for each bike ... let us know how you get on with the hunt.

    Cheers

when you grow some pubes and some testicles you'll realise that what you really need is an RGV250.

it's legal on your licence, goes like snot and is a SUZUKI.

if my missus could ride one when she was 19 (yeah, they made them in the 70's too) then you can, unless you're a real girl.

Go for a "bigger" 250cc. 150 is for weeds, chicks and fags.

I had a GSX250cc. Barely big enough for my royal fatness but moved along okay for commuting.

Oh and by the way, Welcome!!

Ride heaps, get the Full license and get a big boys bike once your chest hairs grow long enough to plat.

FXR150s are not a lot slower thatn GSX250s.

You're 15, it's your first bike, get something simple. Whatever it is you'll get a hell of a kick out of it!

(My first bike was an NSR... (first two wheels a 125 scooter))

    Welcome to KB Rider 07!

If you are fairly light, the 150 would be a great bike to learn on.

Nice post by the way. The spelling nazis around here will be impressed!!!

Welcome to KB, the FXR is a good learner bike and you will enjoy it. Take advantage of the folks in your area who can offer mentoring and rider skills, it will pay off big time.
