Good point there... not only that, it drinks more gas and is more expensive to service as well. I do doubt that an iPhone will hold it's value quite as well though and in 18 years it'll be obsolete.

    Reminds me of this:

    Microsoft vs General Motors

Not even wankers would want an iPhone... the screen is too small for pr0n.

Give it time, it is there first phone after all. Just wait till gen 2, I have no doubt they're learning lessons left right and centre... of course, being Apple, they'll just ignore them, but we live in hope

I've only been in the Mac game for about 2 years, what lessons have they not learned in the past? I can only think of the Newton, and also discounting the iPhone so close to releasing it.

I have a Company. Depreciation is good.

Little rant: So I want a Mac Pro as an accessory for my iPhone with a big arse screen but do you think there are any in stock? Of course not. This is NZ. None for 2 months apparently. Dick heads.

Apparently the Mac Pro's are due for a model change/upgrade (term escapes me).... but yeah, they're not really that great with stock levels in NZ sometimes.

Might just go for an iMac with a 24" screen. Are they any good for general use with the odd video edit etc?

That's a lesson they have yet to learn... they habitually bring out new or upgraded products without a whisper in advance, leaving joe bloggs who brought it a week ago with an obsolete product. My Apple friends keep an ear to the ground when they're looking to upgrade, nothing pisses them off more than finding out if they'd waited a week they'd have a got a better cpu and twice as much memory for the same money. I would've thought Finder would, but apparently not

Don't be a fag, go the 30" Cinema display... can't be more than $3000 now? 2560x1600 res... oh yes Dell have the same monitor for $2200 at the moment, essentially the same unit inside, the Apple one has some interesting features the Dell one doesn't, and vice versa. $800 buys you a lot of white spray paint though

/edit: What does the res mean?? It means you can edit your high def home porn, in full size, and still have room for the video editing toolbars around the outside of the video. Phat.

I would say so... just make sure you chuck lots of RAM in it. Find some reviews on the web if you're not sure. I'll look for some for you if you can't find any.

Yeah, suppose. But the Mac Rumour mill usually gets it about right. If you do your research then you wouldn't miss out.

That's another thing that rubs me funny, what's with giving the fan boy sites the smack down?

An iMac, doubtful, you'll probably have to buy a real one. Whatever you do though, take skelstar's advice, spend up large on RAM if you're going to be editing video, that and plenty of HDD space... video is super hungry if you're not a tidy Kiwi file system wise (i.e. shit like working files that you leave lying around, they can be quite large!)

I don't use all the functions on my fone I have now... which has a few games, web, schedular, alarm, calculater, timer, stopwatch, addressbook and a few other things...

Nor did I use my PDA (which I am now selling on tardme) other than the odd time as a mp3 player. and that did more depending on the installed application and the size of the SD card.

    Would I use a:
Cell phone camera very much doubt it, the quality is usually to low for anything I would need it for. Have a semi decent digital camera for that. (it has a fone attachment apparently.

Email to phone: doubt it if its that important ferking important that you need to contact me in a hurry... ferking ring me and speak to me... I have cell phone.

Phone web browser: I have better things to do... and its not that cheap. I'll wait to get home on nice big screen and broadband.

Picture viewer: nope have a 19inch LCD monitor at home to veiw them... I hate squinting...

Movie player: errr why? again have a big screen TV or monitor at home

Texting: Only cause I have to... wanna speak to me... ferking ring and speak to me.

MP3 Player on a phone: Maybe, but as long as if it doesn't just drain the battery to quick and I can call out when needed. I am also an audio snob... so the quailty of the standard mp3 even at 128-192kbps is crap. 320 at least for me but then the mp3 becomes 20 odd mb, so does it have SD card reader which is compatible with my other devices.

Address book: Not really... usually only storing the my contacts phone number not address. or any other details. I have a full on contact manager database for that.

Video Phone: I doubt it... waste a money time and effort... too use to putting phone to me ear, and not holding in front of yourself looking like a prat

Games: the odd occasion as a time waster and filling in time... heck even my PC hasn't got any games on it... including the standard windows games

GPS: Well this one I would possibly use from time to time for GeoCaching... but we have 4 GPS units around the place why buy another.

Telephone: Well it is why I bought the phone in the first place. and yes it is cheap to Txt... but I hate txting.

PDA: The other half uses her one on her Trio-phone-thingy so I will give her that... as for me no, I didn't use her old PDA, I thought I might but nope

Coffee Maker If it did I would

So I doubt I would use anything on the iPhone other than a phone and txting and I definately aint paying that much to do that...

Wait till you travel for a living... nothing like having a few episodes of your favourite show to watch when your flight is delayed for a few hours. Basically, the reason that you see no use in a device like that, is because you're not the target market.
