Fair enough...I haven't seen the keynote etc. There wouldn't be many Treo/iPaq converters though I reckon.

USD - $499 for the 4GB, $599 for the 8GB.
But remember, that these are the prices in the USA for a 2 year plan, which commonly sees phones discounted by USD$500 or more.
I would expect that, if Vodafone carried them, that if you didn't want a plan, you may be paying $1300-$1500 NZD for them.
Nice though, to finally see that the rumours about an embedded OSX were true.
And I to my motorcycle parked like the soul of the junkyard. Restored, a bicycle fleshed with power, and tore off. Up Highway 106 continually drunk on the wind in my mouth. Wringing the handlebar for speed, wild to be wreckage forever.

i expect the fact that is in fact the new ipod as well as the new iphone/pda/web browser and blackberry and whatever else it'll do in the future, will ensure its place at the top of the pile of must have devices for YEARS to come...
wonder how long before it'll be available over here
As soon as its on eBay?...hope this is the 'way things are going'. I think the PSP will be too...in cracked firmware form its getting/could get quite useful. sort of like a universal LCD display unit. Streamed video, music etc.

I'm unsure whether I'd want it more than an Nokia E70 though. Or how long the battery will last in number of recharges, a screen that size will use a lot of power. It'd really annoy me if I had to buy new batteries every few months for it, or worse still you couldn't change the battery easily.
Battery:
* Up to 5 hours Talk / Video / Browsing
* Up to 16 hours Audio playback
I saw more defined specs somewhere else though.

Was on the TV1 6pm news, looked very very nice.
Waste of time to me.
I want a phone with a decent camera built in (ie 4-5 megapixels and a decent flash) as well as small etc.
If it had one i'd get one for sure.
TV1 said it would be $900 NZD.....but I'm sure that will change.
It'll be full of all the usual quirks and copy protection of other Apple crap.
Viva La Figa
The ghey.
Given the quality of iPods, especially there batteries, would you want to be locked into that piece of crap for two years? That'll be fun when you go to change the battery... although like the iPod I guess you could take it to the shop and be raped in the arse again on price, or void your warranty and replace it yourself, although it took more than 2 years for decently priced kits to come out. Doesn't do anything that a PocketPC phone hasn't already been doing for year either. I wonder if it'll be like the nano and get the arse scratched out of it in a week? I wonder if that new tech touch screen will still work with a screen protecteor (one assumes so). iTunes... nuff said.
The yay
Has a HDD built in which is nice. GSM and CDMA apparently which is a bonus. I would be surprised if the usability wasn't pretty awesome though... the iPod may be an unreliable piece of crap, but damn they're nice to use when they're going
I think for me the biggest concern is the battery. iPods are notoriously shitty in the battery department, this one is small and even their quoted figures show a pretty short life... and apparently the battery is swappable (please let that rumour be wrong!).
Dunno if it's in the one phone or two different versions like the iMates.
i'd be too scared to buy something like that. Costs too much and I'ld always be worried about cracking the screen etc.

Find a chick who’s just been dumped and comfort her by massaging her shoulders, and soon, she’ll be massaging your prostate.

The amount of times you get Apple iPods come back to you with fiddly little issues as a retailer, means you really hate seeing someone walk through the door with an iPod in their hand and cables in the other, looking to cause trouble. It's like "here we go, another stupid iPod issue..."
Probably won't be too much different with the iPhone. And quite expensive. Bloody Apple and their brand-exposed monopoly on mp3 players... the iPods really aren't all that fantastic, but they're the only brand your average Joe recognises and the only brand average Joe's kids will be demanding, so Vodaphone NZ would be silly not to range them.
Soapbox house of cards and glass, so don't go tossing your stones around.
