Nothing is really broken or stressed just the Starter clutch is not working properly. Doing the same thing my Virago was doing when I first came to NZ, it's spinning freely in both directions instead of just the one and locking the other.

Makes it more rigid and helps keep the frame from flexing too much... should eliminate that wobble when cornering at decent speeds.
Why don’t you just buy a bike that don’t flex man! – sorry, just joking, could'nt help myself.
Vmax to the max man. I almost bought one, but chickened out.
    Chassis flex – real bummer,

lol if I did that I would have nothing to make me original and stand out in a crowed.

Viscosity... How hard is it to get to the clutch?? Spray some wd40 into it. Drain all the oil to the engine. Put it all back together and use oil with the first set of numbers no higher than 10W

It's not the clutch it's the starter clutch. It connects the starter to the crank nd basically it spins just as fast as the starter when the button is pushed but then spins freely back the other way once the bike is started to keep from damaging the idler gears and the starter.

It's right behind my flywheel wich is why I've been having so much trouble getting to it. The bolt holding the fly wheel on is tighter than a fish's twat.

Yes .... I'm with you all the way.. Starter clutch. Had simmilar troubles with my XJ. Would have had to split the cases to get to it. Asked question on the XJ-Forum and was told 'oil too thick'

ah ok. Hvn't heard anything like tht from the VMax forum though. From what they tell me it's fairly normal for one as old as mine.
