    Labour to refund election money.

Below is from the herald today, basically it says that the thief's that are our government are going to refund the money they stole for there election campaign, but does that mean as a tax payer, I can expect a cheque in the mail? where does it get refunded too and what happens with the money now?

P.S, sorry to start another potentially boring, fuck the labour government political thread, but my question is genuine, I would like to know where the cash is refunded to.

In a major backdown, Labour has said it will pay back thousands of dollars of taxpayers' money misspent at the last election - whatever the outcome of a legal challenge to the spending.

Labour party president Mike Williams this morning issued a statement saying the party would pay the money back.

He earlier told the Herald that his party might reconsider the matter if a New Zealand First attempt to overturn the ruling by the Auditor-General was successful.

That comment is understood to have infuriated Prime Minister Helen Clark.

Auditor-General Kevin Brady last year found $1.17 million was unlawfully spent by political parties before the 2005 election.

Six of Parliament's seven parties offended - Labour by $768,000, New Zealand First $150,400, The Greens $80,900, United Future $63,800, ACT $17,800, National $11,300 and the Maori Party $48.

The Government passed legislation retrospectively to validate the spending.

NZ First strongly rejected Mr Brady's findings and is seeking legal advice about whether or not to repay the cash.

In the NZ Herald Mr Williams said that if NZ First was successful in challenging the Brady report Labour may reassess its position.

However, that is no longer the case.

"The Labour Party has always said that it will refund this money by the end of the financial year and that remains our intention," he said this morning.

"There is no point whatsoever in speculating about the outcome of a court action which has not taken place.

"Such speculation is entirely hypothetical and has no influence over whether Labour intends to refund the money or not.

    "We will be refunding it."

Prepare dear voters to be bribed with your own money that you worked so hard to earn taken by the Govt to give to useless bludging scum and then give a little back to us via the provision of a crappy public service after they spend their share on govt expenses (trips cars, spin doctors, etc etc).

If you read it carefully it is saying that they may NOT refund the money after all.

    The main points are

    1. NZ First is putting together a law suit to challenge the findings of the enquiry so they dont have to pay
    2. Labour are still fundraising the full amount

    3. If NZ First are successful is defending the allegations of election speeding in the courts then Labour will also defend their spending and will NOT repay the funds stolen.

    4. If NZ First is successfull there is no way in hell that Labour will stand by their promises of repaying it, its bullshit, there is no way that they would actually be honourable when their own salaries are at stake. knowing the Labour party, all the money they have collected already from the kind donations of Labour supporters will fund a "Family Guy - Stewie "Sexy Party" and they can all go on holiday for a month..

Basically they are a lying pack of bastards AGAIN!!!!!!!!
