What's funny is that the most popular option in Hitchers poll are the 'Others'. People who are or can be categorised but refuse to believe it so they determine that they are something else. A large enough group of others to be it's own special group.

Me - I'm proud of where I've come from and what I've achieved. I nmost strongly resemble -
The Papatoetoe Tribe - Unpretentious. Urban working people who disdain wankers...
The Balclutha Tribe - Staunch. A source of stability and commonsense, bearers of on-going connection with the land solid, reliable and down to earth, but also deceptively smart.

    Which I reckon is ok.
They shall not grow old as we that are left grow old.
Age shall not weary them nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the evening,
    we will remember them

Horse pucky. The tribal system is like pyramid selling. You aim for the top so you can milk the people below.

Live in the now. The tribal system is for tree climbers.

    The Raglan Tribe Free spirited

The independent spirits who value the ability to live a life according to their own priorities, not the consumerist pressures for material aggrandizement. They tend to be highly sensate and internally focussed hedonists, or spiritual journeyers, fitness fanatics or adrenaline junkies. Many Kiwis join the Raglan tribe for three weeks at Christmas.
I hate the thought of joining the masses at Raglan over Christmas/New Year... I've never been there though

Yes we all like to belong, apparently, and self worth/esteem is essential for a persons function as an adult.

Please excuse my cynicism, but having done the good old History, Education, Phsycology, Anthropolgy bit at Uni many years ago it's impossible to not be a wee bit jaded when you see something being marketed as defining a society's social fabric/structure.

I still reckon it's bollocks. Harmless, but bollocks nevertheless.
