It now sounds more likely that the 'run it over' approach could have been a humane act... None of us will ever know if "ill" meant it had something from which it could recover.

Yep there's something screwy there. I'm pretty sure that if a bike hit a seal hard enough to kill it the bike and rider would not be too healthy.

Perhaps there's a wee bit more to the story.

What a tosser. Makes me laugh to read the maximum fine is $10,000 - what's the bet that even if they catch him, his fine will be closer to $100?
Yes, I am pedantic about spelling and grammar so get used to it!

Hitting it on the bike didn't kill it...it had to be euthanised after it had been hit...

Maybe it was 'neck' that was mis-spelled?
Perhaps it was supposed to read 'mum'.

And he'd be quite right, how would you ring a seal's mum, she isn't likely to be in the phone book?

Looks like the biker's fate is sealed. I hope he doesn't blubber when he's sentenced. If the judge is a woman, I hope he doesn't flip 'er off.
If a man is alone in the woods and there isn't a woke Hollywood around to call him racist, is he still white?
