Angry People that txt while driving should be shot!

The law can't come in quick enough for me, that makes it illegal for you to txt or use a mobile while driving. Seeing drivers txting on the motorway has always given me the sh*#s but no more then when I got Liberaced on my two week old (400km only) bike on Friday night!

I was stopped in a cue of traffic due to another an accident up ahead. I must have been stopped for nearly 20 second on a clear bit of road with clear viability, when woman smacked straight in the back of me, sending me and the bike flying. She jumped out of her car with her phone in hand mid txt and with bear feet! Yes, the bike is insured and yes, I'm alive all be it sprained bruised and battered.

But what piss's me off is that amount of hassle, visits to the Physio waiting for the insurance to get sorted and all the extra travel costs I'm now going to in cure because of this stupid C@#, and you know dam well she will not have learn t anything from the experience!

Sorry just wanted to have a winge!

I agree. Making phone calls and TXTing has to go. It's just too dangerous. There is so much evidence and research saying it is dangerous.

So why is it taking so long? Obviously not enough people have died from it as a result yet.

It sounds like there is absolutely no acceptable reason for her to have hit you like that. Lifetime suspension of licence seems like a suitable thing in these situations. If she has managed to fuck up the basics so badly as hitting as stationery vehicle in a line of traffic she is clearly not fit to drive.

Driving is a complex and dangerous thing that comes with a very big responsibility, perhaps it is not for everyone. Just like fighter jet training isn't for everyone. Only people able to prove their aptitude should be given and able to keep a licence.

I text while driving, never had a problem with it. It's the usual one rule for all when maybe the individuals who fuck up should just be slapped a bit harder.

So... they're using lipstick for lane markings now? Mascara for signposts?
    Glittery eyeshadow for warning markers?
    ... and that's what I think.

    Or summat.

    Or maybe not...

    Dunno really....

    Not another bloody law!!!
Just make it illegal to drive like a f&*^wit.
Texting or applying makeup at 120km/h or in traffic, travelling at 70km/h on the open road in heavy fog, opening a tin of baked beans on the motorway...all clearly the actions of a tosser in the opinion of a suitably warranted officer of the law.
You're nicked, fined and lose your licence or car for a few days/weeks as appropriate.

Its not only txting and being on the phone whilst driving that should be banned its also eating, drinking, putting make-up on, shaving, doing your hair and changing CD's which are all a destraction while driving.
The roads are busy enough without having those in control of a vehicle distracted by objects that can cause accidents.

There are far worse things kiwi's do on the roads than txt while driving. Going slow or blocking the right lane is far more dangerous.

So...should we legislate individually for each of these?
"You have been stopped as you were observed to be in contravention of section 19, clause 57, article 563Y of the Traffic Regulations, namely that you were in control of a vehicle whilst unwrapping a pastry-encased food item - a pie. This was clearly in prelude to contravening article 563Z - being in control of a vehicle whilst eating a pastry-encased food item..."

    Careless driving.
    Dangerous driving.
    Reckless driving.

They just need to be enforced.
