Further in the city, coming down Fanshaw St, on Queen St/Customs St and on Parnell Rise/Stanley St intersections there are quick often bike cops catching red light runners and speeders. Also, on Fanshaw heading back to the north shore, I've seen a speed trap around the corner past Hobson before Nelson.

And North bound after the bridge there in teh quieter times there is sometimes an HP car parked in behind the barrier where the lane-changer-thing live, radaring people coming down the bridge.

I'm all for the red light checkpoints. In fact if any Auckland cops are reading thing - Fanshaw/Halsey St in the morning (and afternoon) is terrible for red light runners.

And as a quick aside, sitting at the lights at Queen/Customs a couple of weeks ago, there were two bike cops on teh other side of the intersection. The pedestrian crossing was going, and a cyclist comes up behind me and rides through the intersection with the pedestrians. One of the cops on the other side runs out and stopped him, when I went past they seemed to be exchanging words on the side of the road - I was very amused.

    Wellington:

Last Saturday I spotted a undercover car on the way out to the Taka's. As you head north down the first hill after the Kaitoke passing lane, he was sitting with his radar on the old section of SH2 facing south. He's right by the intersection so can pull out reasonably quickly.

It's easy to get up a lot of speed here rather quickly (especially if you've just overtaken someone) so check that road is clear first.

Heading north over the Harbour bridge, I have noticed tax collectors sitting in the area where the "median barrier moving vehicle" (whatever it's called) has its gagre. Lots of junk all around that area and the ecilops can hide with ease. Laser used from there as well!

ALL OVER AUCKLAND in SV6's and plain acclaims or Berlinas reds slvers .

Nice white SV6 goes up and down Porchester Rd Papakura most Mornings, The trick is look at commodores dash boards and see the 2x thingees called lights that stick out a mile, or the older VT's have them in the grill and generally stick out a mile too, also they are all lowered

But DONT SPEED then ya have no probs ...........
They are every where folks so forget where ya seen them cuz two minutes later just like you they are somewhere else

Remember they are often new model cars that should be reasonably spec'd as standard...

    1) No towbar
    2) LPG sticker
    3) Often without mags
    4) Lights on the parcel tray
    5) Extra arial
    6) Lights on if parked by the side of the road at dusk or later

    what else?
there is a blue commodore in palmerston north WITH a towbar!

The best unmarked car I have seen to date was a dark blue or black Ford F250 - it was driving down Queen St one even when I was taking a walk down there. Was a couple of years ago now.

Also there is a big black Chevy Suburban around - but I'm pretty sure it's AOS - still looks fairly mean. I wouldn't mess with it. AOS have SUVs (Nissan Patrols?) with big solid platforms on the roof protruding all the way forward to the front bumper, and they have Ford Explorers with fully tinted windows (all but windscreen). However you're pretty unlikely to get pulled over by them I'd say - unless you are carrying a gun I guess.

1)White Toyota Altezza seen in Pukekohe, lowered slightly with what looked like 17" mags, semi-tinted windows - no shit! Heard sirens and saw this guy fly past me, interior red and blue lights flashing and pull over the dude infront of me. Did a U-turn to double check and sure enough was a uniformed officer writing a ticket.

2)Also - Motorway at Ramarama Onramps both north and southbound. They either sit on the bridge over the motorway with a gun or on the onramps so you cant see them until you've just gone past. Vans sometimes park under the bridge.

3)One more - the road between Pokeno and Tuakau. A cunt of a blue XR6 partols there every day, a real rude bastard too.
