    You poor bleeding hearts.
Most MOT cops wore shirt sleeves in summer. We actually HAD summers back then. I had a 120 km/h bin while wearing a shirt. I barely got scratched.
You AREN'T automatically going to die if you don't wear all the safety gear.
I guess if Labour made riding gear compulsory, you sad buggers would vote for them.

They complain and rant loudly....but I think site members are so conservative this is really what they want....more controls so that people will have to do what they want.

Yeah well I started this thread as "you don't need safety gear" and you don't if you don't crash.

I'm one that harks back to the days before compulsory helmets and never thought it was a problem at the time, similarly riding a pushbike without a helmet.

Me I hate stinking control freak mentality.

They say the best safety feature in a car would be a sharp spike in the centre of the steering wheel.I reckon the best safety feature on bikes would be to wear shorts jandals and a T shirt,no helmet - how many cars would pull out say say I didn't see you? The bike rider would of seen them looooong before they pulled out.Wearing leathers and a helmet they would hit the car and blame the driver.

I was so bloody humid in Aucks over the weekend that I just wore jeans and a T. No gloves but I did wear my boots cause my sneakers were upstairs and I couldn't be arsed getting them.

Nice, just like walking around your house naked.

Seems almost insane compared to what I wear just to satisfy the woman that I'm not in that much danger. Its not the bikes that are dangerous afterall, its all those other clowns on the roads :-p
