In the still of the night

It Was In The Still Of The Night

It was in the still of the night
In the dark early hours of the morn
In the distance came the soft serenade of the surf

As moonlight filtered through the curtains
    Shedding light upon your face
As you softly sighed and turned towards me
Wrapped your arms around me, settled in your sleep

As you lay contented in my embrace
I gazed down upon your peaceful face
Your expression relaxed, calm and serene
The warm softness of your body, molded against mine

It was in the still of the night
In the dark early hours of the morn
As the distant surf sang its soft serenade
That I fell in love, again, with you

Written for my wife, Oct. '01

Ooh, that is so sweet! Nice to see that the age of romance is not dead!
Nobody ever wrote a poem for me

I thought you were going to launch into some hardcore Whitesnake there for a moment. Nice wee poem though, my Wife would go all weak at the knees if I wrote something like that.

What can I say! She inspires me. (Though these moments of inspiration are intervened by long periods of mediocrity and I have to be inspired by a swift kick at times... )

I must be getting soft - she called me "spongy" once!

With a 20th wedding anniversary imminent, I hope penning poetry isn't mandatory...
