    Certification

ok, so my new old bike is nearly complete, all thats left now is to take it in for certification.
question is, does it work like a WOF, so if it doesnt pass i have another 28 days to take it through, or will i have to pay again. asking this because i have noticed one of the bars is very very slightly bent, wondering if i'll be able to get away with it...

and the other thing is getting the bike to the testing station. can i legally ride it to there without plates or rego or wof as long is its on its way for a cert??

    any help will be appreciated
    Nick

when you say certification, do you mean a VIN? was your bike writen off by insurance? if so it will have to go through certification with a crash repair report done. frame and forks have to be measured, its a real bitch!!!
pm me if you have any questions or problems.

nah, hasnt been written off, just lapsed rego...
i was thinking of putting some mx bars on it anyway to bring the riding position a bit more foreward... do they need to have some sort of stamp on them to say they are compliable, or will anything do.

well first thing i would do is call vtnz and give them the old plate number, and ask them to check that it can be re Vined without any certs. you will have to get them to look properly, i ask once and they said yes and when i got the bike there they said oh hang on it needs a crash repair cert, waste of my fuckn time!!
as far as bars go, good luck fitting mx bars to a bike that takes clipons!
bars dont need to be anything special.

I'm in exactly the same situation mate. Only thing is I got "pink stickered" for driving without a rego and the cop took my plate.

I took my bike through certification a while bike before it was chopped. It is like a wof but I also had to get a police check run on it as well and prove ownership. I bought it as a runner but it had been stored for some time and so everything had lapsed on it and it needed a little tidying up.

The guys who did the certification were really helpful and as my bike wasn't running properly due to some crap in one of the carbs they even helped by cleaning it out so they could test ride it properly. Nice guys

Hope it goes well for you.

If you don't mind me asking how much did it end up costing?
Then I could get a Kb Tshirt, move to Timaru and become a full time crossdressing faggot

Not sure exactly but it was a few years ago now, a few hundred bucks pops into my mind, not really sure. Give them a call at one of the certification centres, there is one in Wairau Park.

I think the WOF came with the certification as well - too long ago now to remember correctly.
