Getting my licence at the moment, going to sit the test tonight. For the 30 question test, what do they ask? I have read the arms code a few times over, know the 7 basic rules...what else should I specifically focus on?

It's pretty much just the 7 rules, just different situations etc, kinda like the scratch and win for your drivers licence.

It's not hard, pretty much just common sense.

Well that was one of the easiest tests I have had to take. Now what is the deal? Paperwork goes down to Wellington, then comes back up here and to pick up licence I have to show them my little green form??

Welcome to the world of shooting.

If you thought that bikes were an addictive sport you now have another that is just as addictive.

Now for the first rule of shooting

YOU CAN NEVER HAVE ENOUGH GUNS

On a more serious note. If I can be of assistance in any manner just post away on this thread or PM me.

Keep a hold of the green card, proves you sat and passed the test. Saves having to do it again.

Now wait around for 2-4 months for your licence!

What sort of toys you after?

Also Chris is right, you can never have too many guns!

I am after many toys. Got a 30.06 waiting for me, will get a good .22, a shotgun and maybe something like a .243 for a start. Then...the sky is the limits. I have done a bit of hunting and shooting etc, just thought it was time to get my own weapons!

Which is why I thought you'd suggest he buy one for himself rather than a .303

    Yea I also suggest a Mosin-Nagant.

But people look at them sideways lol.

I think they're wonderful looking rifles! and a good cheap entry into military rifles.

My Martini has really grown on me too

Well I had a very quiet weekend.

Sat in my reloading room and put together 500 .44 magnum and 200 .44 spl rounds.

For a change I loaded with that heathen modern propellant.

Went out on Saturday, late evening, to test the rounds. After a plesant 3/4 hour walk the tally came to 4 bunnies and 1 hare. 6 shots total. All this with my .44 Rossi 92 lever gun I use for competition (built more for speed than super accuracy)

Particularly pleased with the hare as it was a 60 metre, uphill shot in fading light. Took it right through the heart and lungs.

    Note to myself.

.44 bullets on little animals, doesnt leave much for the pot.
