Realised that after I postred.
Sorry Scummy.
More than 15 for a .22 and you need an E cat
BTW.
I spent a pleasant 3 hours training with my pistols on Saturday morning. Went to the range in Waiuku and just started from scratch.
Holster work was very rusty. Mt transitions were abismal.
Aim was OK just the fluidness I need for competition was gone.
Looks like I need to do a lot of dry fire practicew at home before my next competition (MAY)
Only good thing came out of the exercise was the rounds I was using.
.44 mag cases
200gn bullet of soft lead.
Magum primer and 4.9 gns of AS30N powder.
Lovely light load. Accurate and easy on the recoil. Good in the carbine also.
I need to do some work on the carbine. Not ejecting properly. Too many stovepipes.

So either you dont think that I will practice or I cant practice without actual live rounds.
You could be right on both counts but as everyone knows you are only allowed to use pistols on approved ranges whilst on private land you are allowed to shoot anything you like.
Nice anominaly.
I can legally shoot a bolt action .50 BMG bolt action rifle, with a theoretical range of 6000 metres, on a piece of private land, but not a .22 pistol that has a theoretical range if 1km.
Wheres the logic in that?
I can shoot a Ruger Mini 14 rifle with my A cat but if I dare put a pistol grip stock on it ( because my shoulder is knackered) then I need a wholey different licence because it has suddenly become an "assault rifle"
There are some fuckwits making up our laws arent there?
"When you think of it,

A well known shooter and writer on firearms, Elmer Keith, saldly deceased, states in his book "Sixguns", that if you are partial to a small drink before shooting then you should maintain the habit.
He doesnt imply that you should get plastered but that you shouldnt change your habits and lifestyle just to shoot.
I like this man.
He owned and kept a lot of guns. Every gun in his house was loaded.
His idea was not for you to assume that they were unloaded but to know they were loaded. If every gun is loaded and others knew then they wouldnt ponce around with them thinking they were "safe"

It's not the ones making the laws that are the problem, it's the end of the scale where the idiots reside that make them necessary in the first place.
Be thankful for the current restrictions, when they were originally put in place they were the best outcome possible to stave off the push by groups to ban the weapons completely.
The lesser of two evils as it were, or would you prefer not to have the weapons at all?
Yup, 15 shot semi-auto .22? - no problem.
A 5-shot .22 semi-auto with a pistol-grip? Oooooo, suddenly now you have a MSSA, go figure?
And who can remember those Mossberg (I think, memory is a bit fuzzy about the 60's) that came out with a fold down kinda pistol-grip on the fore-end??
Would they be cat E stuff??![]()

Anyone had anything to do with the Norinco K98 .22 ?
My youngest is a militaria fan and is thinking about buying one.
5 round bolt action, seems the perfect first 'real rifle' to me.
Looking at a picture, it seems he may need to buy higher scope mounts, has
anyone tried a scope on one of these ?![]()
