Yup - 15 shots. Also... exporting ANYTHING gun related out of the US needs to be done with caution... people have found themselves in all sorts of bother because they didn't get the appropriate ECCN then export license etc etc etc. It's a risk... better to buy and post it but then I'm sure anything coming into NZ that's against the rules here could get exciting too...

No limit for bolt actions, but be very careful owning cross-compatible mags...
If you've got a 30 round mag and it'll fit a 10/22 then you're technically in violation...
There is no limit on magazine size for bolt action.
The 15 round limit applies to semi auto rifles only
You could purchase a 50 or even a 100 round mag for the 77/22 and as long as you dont have a 10/22 you would be perfectly legal.

Yeah, that's for sure :|
Technically you're still legal to the letter of the law if you own a 10/22 and have a high capacity magazine for it, providing it is never fitted but I think there may be some common law there that shows the opposite.
Either way, I'd be vary careful and cagey when it comes to having a >15 round mag anywhere near a 10/22... It's not that it's illegal straight off, it's that if you end up with something going wrong, then it's just one more thing they can use as leverage against you...
Case law is the term you're looking for Jono, not common law.
Had a link before to the article, can't find it at the moment, but NZ police successfully prosecuted a person.

A friend of mine who is a lawyer refers to it as common law, so I'm sticking with it![]()
I do believe you have not only proven yourself correct, but also managed to show that I was not incorrect at the same time
