    Demise of Callender Motorcycles

While in New Plymouth at the weekend I couldn't help but notice that a long familiar feature of motorcycling in that most wonderful of provinces -- Callender Motorcycles -- is no more.

The local scuttlebutt is that Callenders had to move so that property developers could convert their building to apartments. Efforts to sell the business were then dealt a major body-blow when Suzuki New Zealand Ltd gave the Suzuki franchise to another dealer in town. I guess there must be more to this story than that, but my heart went out to the team at Callenders. This has been a great business over the years and it was sad to see that it was no more.

Yip, there was a closing down thread on here a few months back. NP motorcycles now has the dealership for suzuki. A bit sad, now there is only 1 decent bike shop in NP (NP motorcycles), the other ones are fairly crap.
