It was probably caused by some illiterate secondary school English teacher who thinks that there is a verb "to of".

Actually this is how Englished changed, follow the path of "the" and the letter N .
I like all these uses , it shows a "live " language ,,,,

See Japanese for a language with a bleak future ..oh and french ( lower case)

You are so right. My excitement got the better of me and I mistakenly used the wrong word - I knew it was there in the depths of my memory but the wrong one rose to the top like scum - as do the pedants who noticed my error. I will now flog myself for at least five minutes as penance.
Yes, I am pedantic about spelling and grammar so get used to it!

    Women should never flog themselves.

I have a problem with the banning of "gone missing" this is clearly a relic of latin verb formation still used in the English language and as such should be celebrated.

Indeed. "Gotten", "aluminum", and, worst of all, "ass".

"Aspirational", makes my list - its not even a real word.

Used by arseholes to describe arseholes and I'm not talking about sphincters.

Anal and intellectual snobbery come to mind as terms best used for anybody that cares that much about language and the use of.

Language is constantly evolving. Get used to change.

Disrespect - you cannot disrespect someone. However you can perform an activity that can be construed as a sign of disrespect!

Strange that you can respect someone's wishes the opposite of which is "Fail to respect somone's wishes."

In London I was the brunt of an accusatory "You're dissin' me man" I said "Impossible, there's no such word, I just think you are a complete twat and that your opinions are spouted second hand with no thought." I then broke his nose to prevent any comeback and went upon my way.
