    You're probably right, that's possibly why the dog was called Lassie and not Laddie! I've just always thought of Lassie as being male for some reason!

    One of my favourite cartoons has Lassie at the door with a severed arm in her mouth - the mother looks up from her baking and says "what's the matter, Lassie, is Timmy in trouble?"

    I preferred Eddie Izzards take on it, we've had lassie, flipper, skippy, how about Sharky or Stingy the friendly stingray (but not too friendly).
