There was an abandoned bike in the basement of my building last week. A real shitter with nothing really worth while salvaging but the battery. I was getting it out with a crowbar when Dover yelled "Get off my fucken bike Finn!".

    Oops.

BMW motorcycles washed up on beach

    Hi All,

    http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/uk_news/e...on/6287457.stm

Read the story about the container ship MSC Napoli thats beached off the coast in the UK. Some 40 + containers which have washed up on to the beach.

    beachcombers find bikes.......

So a striken container ship off the coast of England is slowly dumping containers into the water which are washing up on the beaches and being emptied by enterprising locals...all within the realms of the law apparently, and one of those containers housed a batch of BMW motorbikes ( I know I know, but beggers can't be choosers) mostly in fine working order (a little wet, but hey) and now that container is well empty. Love it.

Although, if that was the contents of your house in one of those containers and you where on your way overseas then hopefully you where insured!!!

    Cool

The police were taking everyone's details...... so that in the event of the original owner/s came forward to claim their goods, then they (the police) will contact the scavengers to hand the items back over to the police.

They don't think it will happen and be most unlikely too, that the original owners will come forward.....
Something to do with proving the bikes belonged to them.... oh all that paperwork....... would be easy to go throu their insurance and claim that way....

So some of these guys are going to do well out of the scavenger hunt.

Just have to vin the bike and do all the legal legwork on the bike and either keep them or sell the bike on.... at a nice wee 100% profit.

I wonder how many BMW's were in the container ?

Another thread going on the same subject.

I saw an abandoned bike in the mud in the river I used to row at, it was only visible at low tide as well. Looked like it was quite a nice one as well. I think it was dissolved by the Tamaki water, as it dissolves about everything else it touches.
