NEARLY had a new addition ......

saw the ad - went and viewed ............ and there he was! .... DEFINATELY 'our' dawg

a 'mostly kelpie' pup -------- black/tan/white .... cute as a button and he LIKED us

owners not there so left note and phoned when we got home ....

"oh yes -- the smallest boy - yes, black tan and white, yes - he's still here ---- no, he's not spoken for yet - good choice! - yes, i'll keep him for when you get here ......." honestly - they SOUNDED quite normal ....

fitted up the travelling box with soft towels and loaded into car then, via the hardware store ---- staggered back to car with bags of puppy food, litter tray, bowls and other necessary puppy accoutrements - and ON TO PICK UP OUR PUP

got greeted with the sprinkler being moved as soon as they saw us - so it was impossible to approach the house without getting soaked ...... put it down to them being - well - thoughtful
[ it was REALLY hot and very refreshing, really, having to slosh through all that water........ ]

    THEN

[aggressively] "You can't have the smallest pup!!" followed by "WE ARE KEEPING THE SMALLEST PUP ....... well, he wasn't the smallest until yesterday, when his brother went but WE ARE KEEPING HIM" then "Pick one of the other pups but you can't have the smallest pup"

.......... so - we turned, walked back thru the spray and drove our sodden selves and our puppyless car full of puppy-stuff home with heavy hearts ........ *sigh*

you know, i STILL don't know what happened there ..... mebbe our cat bribed them? mebbe they heard i had recipes for puppies? mebbe THEY have recipes for puppies? ......... i'm confused, - i mean a "sorry, he's spoken for" at the outset would have saved a whole lotta grief?

what makes people behave like arseholes?

    ok - rant over

pssssst - anyone want a pile of un-used puppy stuff? cheap? *sigh*

Cos everyone has one, and some just let that fact go to their heads??
If those people were that strange then you are prolly lucky - I'm told people tend to be like their dogs.
Do you realise how many holes there could be if people would just take the time to take the dirt out of them?

Then that pup wasn't meant to be yours. There will be another one out there waiting for you

It's definitely the cat, I'll bet it's got folders of incriminating evidence to use against people that would make J Edgar Hoover proud.

We put our names down for two kittens recently but they were given away to someone else. It hurt like hell at the time as we were so looking forward to them, but a few weeks later we saw two adorable kittens elsewhere and they are now our latest furbabies.

Shelby and Misty are so cute and so lovable that I have forgotten all about the other two. It is the dog owner's loss that they didn't see fit to let you have this dog.

I am sure you will find another one that is just as cute, just as wanted, and he/she will be yours!

And Weasel, you are right. I bought a tin last weekend that has this on it: "If cats could talk, they would lie to you" - so true!
Yes, I am pedantic about spelling and grammar so get used to it!
