    Finding a new gym...

JTFC! I dont think anyone knows what "customer service" is anymore....
I left my old gym last year cause they annoyed me one to many times. I had been going there for 4 years and you kind of forget the rigmarole you have to go through to join up at the time! Ive given up going in and speaking with consultants they are trained in "selling, selling, selling" without actually listening.
Anyone in Wgtn go to the gym here? What are some decent gym's that are priced from $20-$25 weekly in the city? Opinions, thoughts please? Wehats Sportswide (on Willis St) like?

member of club physical .. which is based at my work in molesworht .. but they have a gym on manners.

Also was a member of Habit ... which I loved ... is in the majestic .. they have sauna, lap pool, spa ... and great assortment of classes and personal trainers.

Didn't like les mills was too full all the time, contours appears to be only for those who do circults ... but worth checking out they are throughout the city now.

Also am a member of the wellington weightlifting association if you want a more independant type of gym.

    Cheers, Nasty

Cheers, Club Physical Manners was the gym I went to.... I dont like women only gyms and Les Mills looks too scary for me! There's not actually a huge selection in Wgtn Central...

I hate public gyms fullstop - Have you considered buying a treadmill for home?
LA Fitness occassionally sell ex shop demos at under half price. Thats a 1 year HP for less than your regular gym fee.

Only reason I am a member of physical is its $10 and in the basement of my work. I really did like Habit .. you pay more for better service .. but that wasn't a problem ... apart from that there is a weightlifting gym ... but I don't know what sort of thing you are really looking for.

I cant run on treadmills.... I have fucked knees and have partially ruptured both my achillies over the years so I need to work on strengthening and stretching as well as cardio... Even just "power walking" around the streets wreck them!
Though Im lucky as I actually really enjoy going to the gym as I can still do a bit of kickboxing and other aerobic excercises as well as having the weights and cardio machines.

the one i went to in wangas was the best, but depo put me off, plus work hours built up and something had to give.
i needed cardio desperatly, but hated the monotony of it [treadmill staring at a wall...same with the bikes? loved the weights downstairs though. used to have bitching arms, and have "dents" in my thighs from the squat machine.

good luck finding a new gym, str8.

If you're a no nonsense type and want advice from people who know what they are talking about - go to the Gym Powerhouse in Taranaki Street. If you're keen ask for Warren and tell him I recommended you see him about a strengthening and cardio prog. (PM me). The environment can be a little intimidating if you're not focused but dont let that put you off as the people that go there are first class. The price sounds about right for you and the gym has some old gear...but then who goes to the gym to admire the farken equipment?

I had thought about it but I really need a gym that close to Lampton Quay... Its just a bit to far out of my way unfortunately....

I'm down in Welly most weeks for work and I can only think of two gyms on Lampton Quay
Configure Express is about early 100's Lampton Quay and SYNC is about 300 L. Quay.
    Good luck.

    Hi Hels,

I've been a member of Sportswide for over 5 years. They actually have 2 sites and you can go to either. I've never been to the Willis St one, only the one at the top end of the Terrace. It used to be on the corner of the Terrace/Balcock until a couple of years ago when it moved to Atrium Towers (opposite the James Cook).
Well equiped gym in a new building with sauna and lap pool. I've always found them to be very freindly. I'm not sure about joining fees but I'm only paying $12 per week off peak ie not between 12 - 1. I think including peak is something like $16. And the big plus... No posers
I'm only wearing black until they develop something darker

We came, We listened, And in one voice we answered
    BULLSHIT!! BULLSHIT!! BULLSHIT!! BULLSHIT!! BULLSHIT!!
