SUZUKI VZ800 MARAUDER or Savage LS650

Hi, Well I haven't been on a bike in 15 plus years and am looking at "SUZUKI VZ800 MARAUDER". Have a full Bike Licence and only interested in the curser style. The other bike I have been looking at is "SUZUKI Savage LS650"
Wanting to get peoples opinion on these bikes to start back on for commuting manly , but also the long weekend away.

    Cheers

The 650 Savage is okay as a commuter but if you're planning on any long distance forget it. Too slow and too many vibes. The Marauder is a fine allrounder and will do long trips easy. They've got some grunt, the best of the middleweights I've heard.

Mate of mine just traded his in on a C90T Boulevard and had a good run out of it. If buying second hand, get it checked out by someone who knows them as they have a couple of things need checking such as the rear swingarm bearings/bushes.

Motors are pretty much bulletproof as with most Suzuki's. Later models went to shaft drive though the Volusia version was always shaft and a very good bike!

The VZ800 Marauder is a great bike for both commuting and touring. We've been away two-up with a large tailbag on Mrs H's Marauder and it coped magnificently. Fuel economy is good and they're pretty straightforward, no frills bikes.

Welcome along to the madhouse of KB, Strider!

There are more than a few of us around here who took a bit of a break from the sanctity (sanity?) of 2 wheels!!!

    Enjoy getting back into it.

Welcome Strider! NO CONTEST - the MArauder by a country mile Mate; The Savage is exactly that - a bloody Savage single banger which will depreciate fast, give lack lustre performance, vibrate like and have no street cred. Good luck!

Like 'e said. The Savage depreciates very very quickly. I've never seen one in good condition either, usually covered in corrosion like they have had a dip in the ocean.

Do what I don't; ride them all.
