besides the obvious bike/ helmet /riding gear????
Not sure if Ing'll are same as Otago but the Otago HAGD requirements for the Levels day on the 8th Nov are :

    Riding gear requirements:
? Full face well fitting helmet less than 10 years old meeting NZS1884 as a minimum.
? Eye protection (goggles or a visor)
    ? Leather gloves
? Boots offering ankle protection and of sturdy construction preferably purpose made motorcycle boots
    ? Back protector
? Leathers, one or two piece are preferred but we will also accept the following:
o Kevlar riding jacket and trousers

o Cordura riding jacket and pants in groups 1and 2
    Motorcycle requirements:
It is your responsibility to ensure your motorcycle is in a safe working condition.
Items to be checked as follows:
    ? Tyres in good order
? Brakes functioning correctly and in good order (brake pads included in check)
    ? Wheel bearings
? Steering head bearings and adjustment
    ? Swing arm bushes
    ? Spokes, adjusted and complete
? Sprocket’s and chain adjustment and condition
? No open ended handle bars are allowed, must have ends or be plugged
? Levers must have the “knobs” on the ends
    ? Mirrors removed
? Glass/lights if not removed will require to be taped over with a durable material such as a cloth tape
? No dangerous fittings that could cause injury (pack frames etc)

? General check for loose nuts, bolts etc

As well as the above Otago requires you to be a member of a MNZ Affiliated Club so maybe SMCC have the same requirement.

No, That is one problem no-one can ever fix. Its due to the extremely high combustion temperatures, and the crap that gets added to our fuel. However one thing that you can do to minimise the problem is the keep the idle air filter clean.

On top of the carb is a little alloy cylinder held on by a single philips head screw. Undo that screw and the cylinder comes off and lo and behold is a small gause filter not mentioned in the owners manual. keep that clean, and the bike runs smoother at low throttle, and is less likely to foul the plug.
    Time to ride

Thanks for that advice Jantar, I will check it out.

I bought a plug adapter on Ebay that allows you to use a modern Iridium plug (good thing since they dont make the other sort anymore). It also moves the plug tip further back up the plug hole. It used to foul the plug everytime I rode her, but since I put in the above set up, I have not fouled a single plug. It may have been a bit early to say I haved solved the problem, but so far it is looking good. I will keep you posted once I have done a few more K's.

but I got the bike to ride.......but only with a dealer plate. stupid LTSA couldnt make a decision as to if they wanted to put the old vin number back on the bike, or issue it with a new one. So yeah, next week it should be on the road properly

Also those dirty polluting round motors dont have air flow across the plug like a four stroke or multi transfer port two stroke to keep it clean. That is the main reason they are hard on plugs. Good to still see RE5's are still around though, 70's & 80's classics aren't seen to often these days.

The Mini TT in the Club calendar is a mistake as it was postponed (Got that from Kevin G), so don't put yer knobblies on head to Teretonga instead.
Garry, when is the mini TT, some time soon I hope
