Anytime! I think i might start carrying a tube to siphon fuel out of the rest of the tanks in the ride... prob wouldn't have helped last night as I was down to reserve myself at the bottom of the hill... maybe something to due with keeping the chainsaw at 16k rpm through the corners?

What corners - you found some corners?????.....shhhhhhh that road is our little secret
Actually I planned out another bloody good ride today - only thing is there is a 15km gravel bit between 2 excellent sealed roads that I doubt many of you have ever been on. The gravel section is a really wide gravel road with wide wheel tracks that are pretty easy to ride on any bike - easier than the road up to my place. Probably a 200ish km round trip from Milton (via Lawrence again)
So who could cope with that amount of gravel?
Free2b is dead right about that coffee - if you like good coffee then don't go to the Lemon Tree cafe in Lawrence - try the Wild Walnut just up the road or Jaffa's just over the road.

(I think I might be heading out that way on wed anyway, have to replace a circutboard in cromwell and dont want to do it tuesday or thurs.)
Actually - Ruralman, Is there any other sealed routes to cromwell without having to go along SH8 along the dam/river/lake?

Hmmm Weds???? Need to think about that one.

Theres always another route - trouble is to get to Cromwell by another sealed route probably adds another 200km to your trip!!! - maybe not - the obvious one is up through Middlemarch or the Pig Root and the Maniototo. The less obvious would be through West Otago, over to Riversdale,Lumsden, Garston, Queenstown and back down through the Kawerau Gorge. The worst part of that ride would be Riversdale to Lumsden (boring, straight and usually a few cops).
Fortunately the SH8 ride up to Cromwell is a pretty nice ride so even if you haven't got time for the diversions you still enjoy it.
