Virago it's 'wild' pork lol but anyway i'm sure you'll love it ok well i'm in for wherever looks like we have 2 options either RM's or SF'S so if we can have a poll on where we want to go that would be handy!!!
Now i will tell you what i've done for you!! 50,000 tears i've cried, screaming, decieving and bleeding for you and you still won't hear me don't want your hand this time i'll save myself maybe i'll wake up for once.........

    Bike 2 bike comms

I did a bit of investigating in Dunedin yesterday on options for the bike to bike communication. I went to Dick Smiths and also to Jaycar which was recommended to me.
Jaycar had a motorcycle adapter kit ($118) which when added to their recommended radio unit would have cost around $250 per bike. The kit included a plug in headset, microphone to go into your helmet plus a wire out to a push to talk button. To me it looked bulky and a bit awkward to put in my helmet, the radio unit was also reasonably large and to be honest it was also probably more than I was thinking of spending per bike.

The other option was at Dick Smiths with the unit on the link below
    http://www.dse.co.nz/cgi-bin/dse.sto...uct/View/D9129

This is a very thin and light unit which would easily attached with some velcro to the front of your jacket or something handy, it comes with an earpiece and microphone, and it has VOX which means it will transmitt as soon as the mic hears you talking so you don't need a push to talk button (much better for - fuck theres a cop, watch out theres gravel on that corner etc). It has some other nice features with power save functions etc.
Price wise its $199 for a set with 2 of everything, and it will communicate with other sets set to the same channel. Looks like it can also use duplex which means potentially you could get longer range using repeaters in the area.
In my case I currently have speakers in my helmet for a radar detector - I will remove one side and put the CB speaker in there
My suggestion is that we try out a pair of these first but negotiate a price for quite a few if they prove successful. Maybe we can organize a set for the mid winter get together? Have a look and let me know what you think.

Everything is already white outside here now but at this stage just a light coating - doesn't sound great for the next few days though. It might look pretty but the novelty soon wears off when you have to work in it - unless of course thats on a ski field.

How does the night of Sat 7th July sound to everyone for this dinner thing?? (regardless of where it is held)

Thanks for the invite! 7th July, I should be at a winter rally in Nerriga NSW where the locals say it can get cold, down to -2 / -3! I'll just have to go and see how the aussies do a winter rally. Have a good time without me. I'll have an opinion on the Trans Alp when I get back. Cheers.

    the view out my window

Heres the view out my kitchen window at the moment - pleased we didn't try to have the dinner this weekend. More snow forecast tonight and then it looks like it is going to clear up and freeze solid for a few days.
On my way in to Mosgiel last night I drove through a real blizzard with big heavy wet snow flakes - and there was a motorbike heading South through it. The headlight looked very much like a Transalp too - don't think it was me!!
The only weekend thats a definite out for the dinner for me is the 13-15th July.
