    Question Remove carbon build-up

    any ideas on how to remove carbon deposits (19 years worth) from the inside of exhaust header pipes

    Try a caustic soda solution, dont know how strong to mix it, might have to experiment to see what works. Seal one end of the pipe, pour in the solution and leave for a while. Once again trial and error but probably a while for 19 yrs worth. Dont make the solution too strong probably a mild solution soaking for a long time would be better.

    if you dont care about the appearance of the pipes, (ie this method will probably blue chrome plating on single wall pipes), fire up the oxy acetlyene set and heat the carbon directly till its red (the carbon, not necessarily the pipe), then turn of the acetylene leaving the oxy on. It will be impressive - best to do this outside.
    Alternatively caustic and be careful of splashes into your eyes
    it's not a bad thing till you throw a KLR into the mix.
    those cheap ass bitches can do anything with ductape.
