    Donuts are made to a much tighter radius than stainless tubing is normally mandrel bent to, that's why you use them instead of bent tuing, and why they're a lot more expensive.

    It's exactly what they are used for. The radius in a donut is tighter than achievable by bending without crumpling the tube. The donuts are two pressed halves, tacked together to form a donut-shaped tube. When forming extractors for V8's etc you need to ensure equal length for each manifold at the optimal length according to carb/cams etc. It's not just bend it down & point 'em together at the collector.

    I lost many a hair on my fingers acting as a vice holding little donut segments together for a mate. Prick.
