well let's see - driver sees bike coming, mentally figures bike at 50kph is far enough away to give sufficient time to complete turn, BAM turned out the bike was doing 200, giving the driver only a quarter of that - and of course due to the excessive speed the biker barely had time to react, let alone avoid.

    OR,

driver glances down road, no large object in view, goes for the turn, BAM - and of course due to the excessive speed the biker barely had time to react, let alone avoid.

    biker was asking for it.

That first vid wasn't a bad wheelie till he put it down LOL!! At least the guy coming to his rescue seemed to approach it in the right manner and didn't just rip his helmet off! Bloody lucky he didn't do that while going past those parked riders he was showing off for and take everyone out?
    Bugger!!!
On a Motorcycle you're penetrating distance, right along with the machine!! In a car you're just a spectator, the windshields like a TV!!

'Life's Journey is not to arrive at the grave safely in a well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, totally worn out! Shouting, ' Holy sh!t... What a Ride!! '

Slightly more inkeeping with the 'safety' board this thread is in...

Who else thinks this should be part of the basic handling test?

Well yes, actually. Survival tip #342 to be stored away in your head somewhere...

In the last moments if impact with car looks inevitable - start standing up on the pegs.

"if in doubt, power out" and "bail before you fail" are the two most important lessons any dirt rider learns. That and an uncanny ability to avoid trees at speed which translates into "traffic negotiation".

in all seriousness though, dirt riding has both prevented me from several road accidents (both single and multi vehicle) and when I have come off the road bike i've walked away unharmed.... touch wood
