Must be short on news in the North Shore today

    Are they taking the piss??

Article from North Shore Times, Monday, 12 February 2007:

SURPRISE: North Shore woman Tess Musson did a double take when she found spaghetti in her baked bean can.

There was not a bean in sight despite what the label said.

North Shore Times receptionist Tess Musson found spaghetti when she opened her baked beans can in her lunch break.

Kiwis are understood to eat the most canned spaghetti per capita in the world, but Mrs Musson is a firm baked bean fan.

So finding spaghetti inside the can didn't exactly make her day - even though it was in a "special full-flavoured tomato sauce".

"I was looking foward to a high protein lunch and I got a can of carbohydrates. I know it's really popular but I'm a baked beans girl," she says.

Mrs Musson definitely sees the funny side of her surprise beans - particularly because they were on special at the supermarket - and it's not enough to put her off opening another can.

Wattie's, the makers of Oak Baked Beans, says it must have been a stray label.

Spokesman Paul Hemsley says it is a rare occurrence for the company that cans 350 million products a year.

Mr Hemsley says the company apologised to Mrs Musson. It also couriered half a dozen cans of baked beans to her.

Must still be the silly season - the Manawatu Standard has an article about a woman who was mistaken for a shoplifter in New World... they only realised they had the wrong woman when she pointed out the woman on the video surveillance was wearing black trousers and she was wearing jeans - oh, and the shoplifter was "three times bigger" than she was!

Your just different, most readers would have been using their remaining synapse to partake in some moronic chuckling or tut-tutting.

    Overheard at supermarket last night:

woman: oh hi barry what are you doing here?
man: oh, just some sunday night grocery shopping
woman: yeah I know what you mean, me too....

Yeah I was a bit dissapointed in that as well; you'd think if they had gone to the expense of hiring a helicopter that they would at least devote a few more minutes and more action, what ever happened to the ground shots from the guys on the southern?

When they ban the Westpac run because of the HUGE traffic disruption, don;t worry, it will get a quite a few news minutes about how those scruffy bikers keep on behaving like they own the road. Ooo the scandal.
If a man is alone in the woods and there isn't a woke Hollywood around to call him racist, is he still white?

I'd rather read about bean-gate than another homicide, beating or robbery.

Light-hearted news means less bad news to report.
