    Importing Bikes

    After searching for the perfect first bike, i was forced to look abroad (Japan).... And I found some good deals.
    But I would like to get some-one elses opinion on Importing a bike.
    The costs of geting it on the road.
    The pros and cons of dealing with an anonymous stranger.
    so please enlighten me with your knowledge

    bring it in a spares, i.e dismantled and you won't need to pay import tax on it.
    Was talking to someone the other week, he bought a bike from the USA, the tank and battery were removed and placed in the same container but because it was no longer a complete bike, it was considered as bike parts and he didn't have to pay duty on it. It didn't have fairings as they were damaged so he got some here. Bloody genius
