    From my home Coyote.

98tls: I'd hate to think of her beached, back broken, on some Bangladeshi beach while 6 year old kids strip her fittings.

Hitcher: After that last Princess liner that was in town, she looks pretty small and doesn't make a great deal of use of her hull. Still she doesn't need jet engines for manouvering.

    Steam: Nice one!

She's a beaut! Much classier than those modern floating casinos.

Steam, I think I can see you!

Was up here in Tauranga last year. Was down in the Mount (near where the cruiselines dock is) thought, damn that's a big fucking wall, when did that get there? lol

Not too much longer I hear, too costly to update to latest safety regs. Will be a sad day.

It's normal for the big ships to do a lap of the Harbour. Wellingtonians kind of take the natural beauty of their harbour for granted, where the people on the cruise ships rave about it.

If it's a nice day of course

The QEII and QMII are not cruise liners, but Ocean Liners.

The QMII should be in tomorrow I think, too big too big to use princess, so it'll have to use a container wharf.

They have to be careful, not very deep up this end with the Hutt River's silt deposits building up every year. Vic Uni did a study on the effects of sedimentary build up in Welly Harbour at the request of Centreport a few years ago. Pretty serious dredging is going to have to happen to ensure the long-term viability of the port as container vessels get bigger & bigger.

Jim, I miss Maungaraki, best part of the Valley I reckon.
