    GST on an imported engine?

Will I have to pay GST on the cost of an engine if i get it freighted from the US?

more then likely...12.5% on anything over $1000NZ...should be DUTY exempt.

I'd be prepared for some kinda extra charge, due the weight of the package...special delivery and all that.

Isn't it over $399, or rather, where the tax collected amounts to $50+?

/edit: But yeah, email them, they replied within a couple of days to me with everything I needed

motorcycle parts are 0% duty but where something valued at greater than $400 (including freight) = $50+ GST they will collect. (the GST that is)

You'll need to check whether a full engine is counted as a motorcycle part.

I had to pay GST on some Motorcycle forks worth $500NZ.
And I to my motorcycle parked like the soul of the junkyard. Restored, a bicycle fleshed with power, and tore off. Up Highway 106 continually drunk on the wind in my mouth. Wringing the handlebar for speed, wild to be wreckage forever.

Yes.... but get caught and the only riding you may be doing is on a small wooden horse in a 8x8 cell for a few months.
Ride her every day... while you still can!
