Yep, that Saphire Princess(?) is farken big. Bigger than a thing that is really quite big. Not exactly sleek looking though, it looks like a floating appartment block. The QEII at least looks well proportioned.

And the QE2 has a distinguished war record. Bless her, and all who sail in her.

To give you an idea of what these liners are like up close, here's the Star Princess,

    1. Berthed at Princes wharf (before I boarded her)

    2. The Grand Atruim - 3 stories high.

    3. That "wall of steel" from the Hilton.

    4. Auckland Harbour and the Stern Pool

    5. The heated indoor pool "Calypso Cove"

    6. The main pool "Neptune's Reef". Note the showers and Jacuzzi's.

Got 4 rolls of film of pix from the cruise.

The QEII came in once when I was a commuter on Waiheke Island.I was going into Princess Wharf and we couldn't get to the Ferry Terminal,so they dropped us the end of some other wharf, climbing up off boards or jumping off the side.Waiheke commuters were a hardy breed back then, bet they wouldn't try that stunt these days with all the rich people there now.
