Ride down the 22 today (saturday 18th)

well with it starting to drizzle we left the AB at about 10:30. We hadn't gone 5 km when the rain stopped and the sun decided to show its face.

It was great to meet some of you guys and being only my second time on the 22 i methinks i'll be riding it a lot more.

low points was crish going a bit wide and ending up in the gravel. Hope the repairs will be quick and not to costly. The wind going over the hills was interesting at times with the bike not wanting to drop in.

High points. Great company, great roads, not to many incidents and i finally got to strech the bikes legs a little.

Gonna get a better front tyre on but it was a great day all round

twas a nice turn out today around 14+ bikes. And still I managed to miss most of them and got lost after stoping to fix up my helmet strap. And not having been down 22 before and not the slightest clue where it is, I got lucky and tracked the group down thanks to people pointing at directions where a WHOLE group of bikes went and managed to catch them about 10 mins before the end of 22.

So that was a very good introduction to 22 to myself, riding alone and not knowing where the road leads but just knowing that there is a full tank of gass

Was great to meet a few more people and also DarkDream, after the coffee at bombay we headed out east and came back to Auckland thru the ranges and Maraitie. Can't wait for another long ride and sun shine.

Aff-man, I'll have to remember to take up the challange of keeping with you next time on the mighty VTR250 :P

sorry NC30 chick, we the coromandle peps folded in when we realise it was a bit too late to do the loop and shooted for 22 instead. What was the weather like a Kopu?

    Another great day

Despite the weather looking a bit shiity, it turned out to be a great day, we left AB, and rode the Motorway to Drury, then old GSR ramarama, bombay, ridge road, down past the the zoo at Whangarata and over the bridge and down 22, It was great to see a whole lot more new kbers, good that everyone rode at a pace they were happy with.Down to Ngaruwahia for fuel and coffee, then we headed back to Huntly via the back rd west of the river, at Huntly a couple left us and headed back another route.

From there we did Rotowaro and back to 22 and then pretty much the same way back( sorry we missed you FB) Slob & I were sitting on the corner just before Tuakau, you must of missed us. More coffee and bullshit, then we left and went our separate ways.

CK if you reading this, you better get your tired butt down this way, Johno did so well today, no Nana on 22 that boy!, Chris(TS) it was great that you manged to give us a fine day for a change, and as ever you, Mal ,VB ,Sulav and Chris were putting up a great pace.

All the new guys hope you enjoyed the day, it was great to meet you, Given my forgetfulness(comes with being so old) don't be upset if I take a while to rememeber your names, hope we see you again soon.

    Thanks guys

What a great day that was. To think I considered opting out this morning due
    to the weather.

Thanks to everyone for a great ride, I was more than happy to take it easy today and feel out the new bike, which I'm pretty happy with.
Dicing it up with darkdream was great fun, but the hilight of my day was definitely swapping bikes with nhuanh and doing the SH1 run from Huntly back to AK city. The most fun I've ever had on a bike for sure. Unfortunately the same can't be said for nhuanh, as the nc30 is down about 50HP on the zx6r and it also broke down coming up the Bombays, which turned into a huge tail chasing exercise for the both of us. fortunately he got my bike going again, and we met up back up in greenlane after I ran his bike out of gas due to all the extra k's eaten up doubling back trying to find him. oops.

Hope everyone else had a great day, and that 6chris6's damage is minimal. He caught me up on SH1 at Takanini (by himself by this stage) and I didn't see any evidence of a bin, so take it that it is.

Definitely something slightly depressing about having a drag against your own bike and pissing all over it though

Well lets face it Dave, at least you didn't forget about being old this time. This doesn't mean you've forgotten your name though does it?

Glad you guys had a great time. Thanks TS for your bike, I owe you big time!

Smile Cheers for the awesome ride!

Thanks to everyone who made it to the SH22 ride today! Having only commuted on my XR for the past 2 months (in between injuries), I was a bit aprehensive about scratching the back roads again. Fortunately I hadn't completely forgotten how to ride a sportsbike!

Dodging the local fauna (dead and live) was still a bit of a challenge though - e.g. jaywalking turkeys, misc flying birds playing "chicken" with my head, dead possums on apexes of corners and what looked like a (dead) family of lab rats in a row across the lane (???). At least that's what it looked like in the split second I spent observing it..

FF was kind enough to let me have a go on his bike - what a revelation (after being accustomed to riding sub-60hp bikes for the past year)! I think I'll be buying a copy of Motorcycle Trader tomorrow...

Anyway, awesome ride guys - I'll be getting more regular with my riding as summer approaches so I look forward to riding with y'all again!

it was actually 5 little ducklings that were crossing the road hence them being squashed all in a neat little line. I was also wondering why possums seem to get squished just as you leave the apex of a corner. . Luckily all avoided so i won't be scrubbing guts off my fairings.

p.s. to dave once again i wanna say how awsome that micron can sounds when you pass

I was wondering why it looks like someone plucked a bird clean in the middle of the road, just that they didn't leave the meat behind :P
