    What constitutes a slow leak?

    Hi all,

Me dear old Mum gave me a tyre pressure gauge and I have been checking my tyres regularily. Front seems to maintain a fairly consistant 36psi whilst the rear appears to be losing 3 psi per week.

Is this normal or do I have a foreign body in my rear?

Thought you had a funny walk

Maybe not sealing properly on the rim? I lose a couple of psi over perhaps 2-4 weeks. Seems a bit slow for a puncture, even a small one.

At that rate, it'll be months to go flat. What about checking the valve itself? pull it out, look for dirt on the seal. Replace it even, new valves are cheap. Make sure it is installed tightly.

    Thanks Guys,

Yep I thought it was a bit slow as well, hence the question. Will check the valve etc on the weekend

    Easier test...

Take off the cap, get a blob of spit on your finger and smudge that into the valve (it need to form a "skin" across the top of the value). If there's a leak there it'll blow a wee bubble... investigate further only if needed

Absolutely Mr Toaster and even worse in my case as I appear to be loose and leaky, yet cannot be sure that I have a foreign body in my rear. If only I did have a foriegn body in my rear, then I would be assured of the appropriate course of action.

What constitutes a slow leak? Um usually when you grip your dick reeeaaalllyy hard while taking a piss....

Anything over about a minute and a half qualifies.
