    Crime in New Zealand

Excuse me, I've been out and had one or two. Just home, and I've just calmed down enough to say that I'm tired of putting up with crime in this country.

In the last 10 years I've been in this country a total of 6 years. In that time I experienced zero crime living overseas, and 6 acts of crime in NZ. One has been serious assualt (Well not so serious in the eyes of the court judging by the suspended sentence) and shitloads of theft, damage and vandalism. On top of that I've just moved into a new place and the two times I've had visitors park on the road both times their cars have been damaged (tonights the second).

From now on I'm reporting every little thing to the cops so if/when I do go postal on some little arsefucker that I might get a little sympathy at least.

And if you're thinking of moving to NZ, think about this, and that we have the worst record of developed nations in child & youth deaths and suicide.

Put this on a Tui sign: Proud to be a kiwi.

dont let the kiwis hear you ,,,, they might suspect somethings not quite right....

Crime it doesnt have to happen ... its the people who make the crime happen ,,

    yes thats right the people

Most are great but it only takes a few to spoil it ,,,Doesnt take punishment ..it takes parents taking responsibility ,,, for kids in both wants and responsibliy

perhaps if the fuckin cops got back on the beat instead of concentrating on revenue collecting we'd actually get somewhere

But Auckland doesn't really count as NZ...

Come south... better people, better roads, better scenery... better life...

Anyway sorry to hear that you have been a victum, and I would report every little thing as well. Over all NZ isn't a bad country, its just a few the soil it it, and you get that in every country. And then its luck wrong place and the wrong time etc etc

remember don't make it easier for the crimes either, lock vehicls, put every thing out of site in car. I remember when I was younger we use to leave the doors unlocked and go out... wouldn't dear do that today... even my parents on a farm in Kailoura now lock up at night when the go to bed... years ago they would leave unlocked for the weekend when they went to ChCh....

The bigger the population gets, the bigger the crime rate... the more of this PC crap... the bigger the crime rate... the more that Mr Helen Clarke believes this country is doing well the bigger the crime rate, The more Helen spends over seas and ond stupid things and not this country and where things are needed the bigger the crime rate...

    Rant over

Wow! You people really have a chip on yer shoulders abt Auckland!

Do you really think Aucklanders are any different from other Kiwis?

Meet an Aucklander and chances are they are from somewhere else before moving to Auckland. I'm from Auckland by way of Invercargill, Christchurch, Waiouru and more than a handful of different countries.

Be specific, what is it about Auckland and Aucklanders that twists your nuts so

Talking to someone during the week...NZ needs the same laws as Dubai.

Theres next to no crime. No one rips any one off (apparently) Everyone is responsible for their own behaviour, no taxes to pay??....its just a pity its surrounded by all the other scary countries.

Not having been there myself, I can only repeat what I was told - whether it
is an exaggeration or not I don't know. But it sounds like a good place if you wanna live in a country with no crime

    Are you kidding me?

I lived in the North Shore for 7 years before I came to Palmerston North, of those 7 years I had my car for 4 of those and I always parked my car on the road yet, not a single issue of vandalism and only got broken into once during that time (which was when I left my car in west auckland once...)

Since I've come to palmerson north, I've just had my car broken into and vandalized 4 times in the last year and a half... I'm buggering back up north as soon as I bloody can... Hell I don't even feel safe walking around at night in this town, and I'm an unattractive male.
I have deep pockets. It's just that it's a deep empty pocket...........

There's plenty of crime outside auckland. Late last year my vehicle was broken into at a beach down in the bay, and when i was in Christchurch in October I was witness to a pretty impressive fight in the middle of a street. My memories a bit hazy before then so I won't rattle off the years before that.

Check the papers, it's a country wide thing.

Dude, have you ever travelled around NZ? In just about every carpark where tourists might stop there are big signs posted by the Police saying "Thieves operate in this area, lock your belongings". If thieves are operating in the area then why the hell are they allowed to??

I'm contemplating having a little stakeout with Mr Maglite tonight.......

When are all you inbreeds from hick towns going to realise we're all part of this shit hole? Just because your village goat didn't get nicked doesn't mean our televisions aren't getting pinched.

I think it all depends on the type of area you live in, how hard you make it for the crims to know about and get at your stuff, and a bit of luck.

I whole heartedly aggree Squeak, that crime has gotten worse and that the Police's ability to control the problem is lacking.

My own experience of crime has been minimal. in 1991 my family home was burgalled whilst we were overseas on a night the house sitter was away, and in 2001 my car was broken into and I lost a couple of speakers and an amp to burglers. I've suffered no other burglaries and I've never been assaulted (fingers crossed for the future) even though I've accidentally left my wallet in plain view in my car on occasion with the doors unlocked overnight. Don't do that anymore though.
