Do you think this would bring any extra cash

I was thinking about bringing in some consumer electronic good to make some extra cash as part time at macca's just ain't cutting it. The market is already flooded with mp4 players so decided to give that a miss when i came across security cams and the like. How big do you think the demand would be for something like a set of 4 wireless cameras with a reciever unit and what price do you think people would be prepared to pay. I think it might suit that needs of some businesses. All advice is much appreciated.

Bro its all in the marketing which is the biggest hurdle for the small bussiness. I don't know how to fix it either.
Then I could get a Kb Tshirt, move to Timaru and become a full time crossdressing faggot

I've got a mate who imports high end audio and home theatre gear from China. Originally it was to make a few bucks but what it's turned into is a way to feed his own habit for cheep. He sells enough to pay for his own gear. Mind you he doesn't do a lot of marketing. Just an add or two in trade mags. I reckon of you can set it up so you aren't risking too much it has to be worth a go. Nobody with a successful business got there by sitting on an idea. Check out your competition tho. Good luck.

Maju. No offence but you've got to spend time...and I mean LOTS of time researching this before you start in earnest. Look at the competitors pricing, look at their warranties, look at their aftersales service, look at their style of marketing, etc.

I've looking into importing stuff like holux GPS receivers (USB, PCMCIA, etc) but the risk didn't warrant the high outlay. Be aware if you're importing stuff from places like China it's often via cash up front no guarantee wire transfer and they'll be reluctant to just send one or two "demo units".

Make sure you cost in all the $hit that it takes to run a business like acc levies, PL insurance, stationary, courier fees, web hosting, bank fees, merchant fees, extra vehicle insurance, phone calls, accountants, etc.

Good luck though...and if your first idea doesn't work out then make sure you have plenty of others on the back burner. Persevere but make sure you know when you're just flogging a dead horse.

4x cameras and a reciever... hmm. What resolution, frame rate, colour or B/W? Could be a cool setup for footage on a bike but would need to be pretty good an resonably priced or no-one will want it. Also look at trademe, there are already shitloads of 'security cameras' on there.

It's better to not pass and know that you could have than to pass and find out that you can't. Wait for the straight.
