I'm not surprised - listen to any British shows or news broadcasts where they are talking to white kids and you can hardly understand what they are saying. Close your eyes and you'd think they were blacks from the ghetto. Rap music has a lot to answer for!

Says it all really. It's up to the parents to make sure that what education system their is, is used to its full potential for their child. No way am I leaving my kids education totaly 100% to the South Auckland system, as it's to late to complain when they reach the age of 16.

A related paradox is of Kiwis going over to Japan to teach Japanese how to speak English. Its a certainty that Kenji and Akiko will know more about English grammar than the gumboot named Muzza standing in front of them.
