The better half had hers towed by a local co from her work car park a few weeks ago at about 11pm.

It was in the company car park and the towies had a list of allowed cars for the park, and her car was on the list.

So they towed it anyway, damaged the front of the car, made her pay the tow cost before releasing the car, claimed for several weeks there was no list and denied all damage to the car. Even though the tow mechanism lines up perfectly with the damage. Teh car is otherwise mint and she really looks after it.

Eventually they admitted they towed the car in error and refunded the money, but still never admitted nor did anything about the damage.

I guess you could say they aren't my favorite people, although I know I shouldn't tar all of them with the same brush.

I don't have problem with towies either. But carpark shark is just total sham and should be discouraged.

And parking warden....well.....to me it's all about the money. And when you get paid marginal amount, $6 per day for parking IS a relatively big pain in da b*tt
And if you're working in a hotel where the council suddenly came in and put parking metres in front of it, life just sux.....

I know a few towies (southern districts),most of 'em are a decent bunch.
I'd like to add to the damage thing too,in my line of work,I've fixed plenty of steering and suspension damage caused by towies not being careful.
    otherwise no gripes...

Every towie I've ever met has been a most obliging, pleasant sort of chap. Even when arguing with an electric fence...

Small claims court? If the damage is sufficiently severe, the insurance company may have a go at them, although a lot of the time they can't be bothered.
Against companies, the small claims court can be good. If they don't pay, then there is nothing like the baliffs siezing all the office equipment (with the associated records) to get attention. It is often crap against individual losers who do a runner.
