Got an e-mail this morning, he's back "home" in Indy. He doesn't recommend long flights with a broken collarbone. Mind you, he probably got well looked after, maybe the Ralph Fiennes treatment? I don't think so...
He tested the Yamaha at Manfeild a week or 2 ago, absolutely loved it. Both he and Sam Smith comfortably under the lap record on old tyres, and after only 2 sessions. So the bike was good, Dom happy too. Well, at Paeroa he was in the "first timers" special practice, led round by Brian Bernard. After 4 slow laps Brian pulled away to "release" them, and Dom just upped it bit. The bike turned in a bit more than he thought, brake lever touched the bale, all over.
This is his first injury that has pevented him going straight out on a bike again in his 8 years of racing. So not too bad, just a bummer of timing.
Last year he did half of the AMA Super rounds, got 26th overall. The plan this year is to do them all, and progress into the regular top 20's each race, overall too. On the old bike, with a new '07 later in the year (ex written off road bike etc)
The opening round is Daytona on 7th March, he hopes to be fit enough for that.
